What is the cost of being an American Patriot?

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

· Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

· Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

· Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army

· Another had two sons captured.

· Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

 

· Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists

· Eleven were merchants

· Nine were farmers and large plantation owners

· Men of means, well educated

But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

 And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

 

What is the cost of being a Christian?

Luke 9:23-24 (NIV)

Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it."

Mat 10:38 (NIV)

... anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Matthew 24:9 (KJV)

 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

It cost our American forefathers all that they could give to liberate us from tyrants and give us a free America. It cost them their lives.

It cost our Lord Jesus Christ all that He could give to liberate us from sin and free us from Satan’s power over our lives. It cost Him His life.

Should we expect that it will cost us any less in our struggle to remain free?

I am a free American patriot I am a free American Christian willing to give all that I have to keep that freedom. I am proud to live under the name of both.
